                        Welcome!

The Hive Archive is a non-profit, feminist arts organization committed to fostering creative and artistic growth, collective learning, and relationships across differences for local artists and allies who are committed to ending sexism.  Our work is focused on empowerment through art, creative expression, and civic involvement.  Programs include exhibitions, performances, public art, education, studio workshops, salons, and SO much more!

                        Enter our logo contest!

To celebrate the completion of our strategic plan, we're updating our look. The winner of our logo contest will receive a free membership to The Hive. Entries will be voted on by our members. To enter the logo contest, email your sketch to newlogo@hivearchive.org by midnight on March 30th.

The logo contest is open to everyone!

The Hive has a 3-year strategic plan!

In February we outlined our Core Purpose & Values (read them here!). In March we defined our goals. Now the fun part comes: figuring out the "middle" (the real-life stuff we need to do in order to achieve those goals). Exciting! Find us on Facebook and stay tuned.

                        Book Making with Shannon Casey

Shannon Casey will walk us though creating a glue bound book using recycled materials. Your cover can be a simple scrap of fabric or a complex collage or embellished with buttons and other findings. It could even be created with less conventional materials like fused plastic bags or paper pulp with pressed flowers. Once you make one journal you'll begin seeing everything as a potential book cover!

Click here to check out Shannon Casey's work and the Artists' Exchange.

Workshop is $10 dollars ($5 for members) and includes materials and treats from the Artists' Exchange cafe!

                        Thursday, March 22 from 7-9PM

                        130 Lancaster St, Providence RI

We will work together on a way to respond to the current assault on women's rights, through a craft activism project. The hope is that we will meet every two weeks for the next few months to work on a project (such as a knit-in). Crafting skills will be taught.

                        NEW! The [Morning] Buzz

                        Picture
                        Wednesday, March 21 from 9:30-10:30AM
Champlin Room at the Weaver Branch of the East Providence Public Library

41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI.

Jae Willard will lead us in our first project: the fabric yo-yo.

To cover the costs and add some honey to The Hive we suggest a donation of $10 per participating adult ($8 for members). In order to plan for materials and child care please RSVP to the.hive.archive@gmail.com by March 16, 2012 if you plan to attend. (No one will be turned away due to lack of donation or failure to RSVP!).

                        More about this new program!

Does Hive O'Clock fall during your witching hour?
                        SubText Salon coincide with bedtime?
Do you punch the clock for the 2nd or 3rd shift?

Well, The Hive now has something for you too! Learn something, make something. The [Morning] Buzz is for anyone who wants to meet, discuss, and make, but finds it difficult to make it to evening meet ups.

Got kids at home? Well, bring them along! The [Morning] Buzz is kid friendly. It offers supervised child care and the little ones will make something that relates to what the big ones are making/discussing too!

Sounds great you say, but can't really commit to a monthly meet up? Well, The [Morning] Buzz meets just 4 times a year and is limited to 1 hour! Just enough time to get your batteries recharged and your creative juices flowing.

                        Start your day with art.
